This was meant to be Marya Morevna, from the book “Deathless,” by Catherynne M Valente, which is even now playing in my ear. Specifically, it was meant to be the bit where she paints her face, wears a butcher’s apron and black fur coat and tames Baba Yaga’s Mortar and Pestle. I don’t think it’s anything like that moment now- it slid off somewhere, but yeah, it still feels like it has a bit of the sensation of that part of the book, so… let’s call it a success. It looks nothing like any of my other work. Le sigh.
About 4.5 hours of crazy wild experimentation.
