Vamp Token Take 2 by AgarthanGuide Vamp Token Take 2 by AgarthanGuide
Okay, a while ago I drew a really crappy concept for a Vampire Token. It was just a fun little personal take on a Magic Card, but I was always disappointed with the outcome, and I always meant to address it in some way in the future.

First, I took a shot at renovating that last drawing into something usable, but it was something of a lost cause. So I started this one, and finished it four hours later, all in a rush.

I kept thinking- there must be a way to make vampires, if not outright frightening, at least mildly disturbing again. And that's how I settled on making the victim the main focus of the whole thing. And I tried to make the vampire look like she's in no hurry, and is feeling no distress, or tension, or sympathy.

THIS is what vampires are supposed to be like: predators. Love it :)

This approach works extremely well for me. That deep down energy of inevitability, an undead demoness of the night need not be in any hurry when hunting mortals down, after all, she has got all night, or an eternity of nights for that matter. i can well imagine her deliberately, unwaveringly, just calmly walking after her prey, who runs until she drops, gets up, stumbles and bounce soft the walls until she falls and then desperately crawls, while her pursuer never picks up the pace. Maybe no even falling upon her this night, but playing the game a number of evenings in a row just for fun before descending upon a now well terrified victim who's heart thunders and blood courses through veins in indescribably fright. Makes me think of a Vampiress who is like a human diner who likes a steak well done, perhaps she loves human blood that has been on a long, spine chilling run.

Are you a writer? Because that was very well written. You wrote what I was trying to get across, and I got a little chill reading it. Thank you for that.

No, thankfully for the world i am not a writer.

Your imagery was inspiring and hopefully made the thoughts in my head something approaching the equal of the vision. Makes me think of that old thing they say about parachuting, its not the first time that frightens you, its the subsequent one. What if this blood seeker did not finish you the first night, but came to visit you the next.
